Thanks Ralph, I'm plannng to include an article about the An Loc drops in the next edition of the newsletter. I'm out in California this weekend and all I have is the info on my computer, mainly the manuscript for my book. I got the info in it from a history the Air Force put out back in the mid-70s. It shows all of the names of Caldwell's crew but only mentions Major Wallace, the AC of the first one. I was pretty sure Hector was on that crew but wasn't positive.

  I'll answer a couple of these questions for you.
  Hector was on the first ship to make a drop on the 15th of April 1972
  Charlie Armistead I think was on the second day.16th 
  Me and Charlie tried on the 17th but drops were cancelled.
  We were the first plane on the 18th.The only ones that tried.Rest of fromation was held on the ground for a staus report from our plane.

    Guys, I've got a couple of questions. Captain Bill Caldwell's copilot was Lt. John Herring. Does anyone know if he was any relation to Major General John Herring who took command of 834th Air Division in 1969 and commanded it until 1971? Second, was Hector Leyva the loadmaster on the first airplane over An Loc? I know that Ralph Bemis and Charlie Armistead were also in that formation. If anybody has any names, please pass them along.
